“ Folk Quest” Winner 2006
24 year old Andy Whittle’s skilful guitar playing and accomplished song writing has led him to victory in the first ever Saul Folk Quest.
The Saul Folk Quest’s panel of judges, made up of Johnny Coppin from BBC Radio Gloucestershie, Al Best from EntsWeb.com and Keith Harris from the Saul Canal Festival & Folk on the Water, unanimously voted Andy into the top spot.
EntsWeb’s Al Best said, “The many excellent entries from musicians across the country made it an extremely difficult process for the judges but in the end it was Andy Whittle's talent that shone through for all of us. I look forward to seeing him play live at the Saul Canal Festival”.

Whilst inspired by great songwriters such as Dylan and Paul Simon, Andy's style retains a unique sound and his music reveals sensitivity and observation beyond his years.

After commenting on the diversity of entries for the Folk Quest, Johnny Coppin went on to say, "I've been amazed at the standard - it was very very hard to decide in the end".
It was indeed a close run thing and the overall high quality of the entries made it a difficult to pick a clear winner. There were three runners up all highly commended on the quality of their work.
They were :
