Folk Quest 2007

Terms and conditions of entry

1. Open to all non-professional folk artists and bands. By non-professional we mean you must not be in full time employment as a musician and must not be earning the greater part of your income from music.

2. There are three classes and one winner will be picked from each class:

  • Fplk Quest Solo Artistes
  • Folk Quest Duos & Bands
  • Folk Quest Under 21's

3. Entries accepted from April 8th 2007 to May 20th 2007.

4. Entrants must:

  • Provide an audio recording of at least three tracks.
  • Provide written promotional material with an outline of experience and details of line-up.
  • Provide a photograph.
  • Give full contact information, inc. telephone and email.
  • State which class they are entering.

5. Entrants must have not played previously, on main stage, at The Saul Canal Festival..

6. Entrants will be judged on standard of musicianship and overall impression by

  • Johnny Coppin - BBC folk music presenter and singer-songwriter
  • Jo Heatley - Music Director, Saul Canal Festival
  • Al Best - CEO of EntsWeb.com and ex professional musician.

7. The successful candidates will receive:

  • Airtime on BBC Radio Gloucestershire’s Folk Roots hosted by Johnny Coppin
  • A Sunday afternoon spot on the main stage at Saul Canal Festival’s Folk on the Water weekend. The Festival runs from Fri June 29th to Sun July 1st 2007
  • A year’s free advertising in the EntsWeb Directory (EntsWeb.co.uk) plus featured artist/band status on the EW Folk Roots List web site.

8. During the weeks leading up to the announcement of the winners, tracks of merit will be selected by Johnny Coppin and played on his BBC Radio Gloucestershire and BBC Internet show “Johnny Coppin's Folk Roots”

9. The names of the successful artists will be announced by Johnny Coppin on BBC Radio’s folk music program “Johnny Coppin's Folk Roots” on May 27th 2007.
